A young petrolhead known for his collection of motors has purchased his rarest car yet.

Cormac Boylan wants to become the next Jeremy Clarkson and has previously hit the headlines for swapping his Bentley for an 80s EV.

The 24-year-old has spent around £40,000 on cars and has a fondness for Rolls Royces – having owned a Silver Spirit, a Silver Shadow 1973 and a Silver Shadow II 1980.

His latest purchase is his fourteenth vehicle.

Cormac didn’t think much of the French car initially – a Renault Fuego – but after going to view it, decided to give it a chance, paying just under £1,000.

Then he discovered that the vehicle is actually extremely rare.

With only eight of them registered and taxed on UK roads, Cormac is determined to get his own back on the road.

The motor journalist and radio DJ is expecting to splash out around £10,000 to restore the classic 80s hatchback.

“We don’t know if the engine spins, we’ve got to get it registered on the road, check the bodywork and check if it needs new windows,” Cormac, from Great Dalby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, told Luxury Auto News.

“It needs restoration.

“There were no keys with it, so I’ll need to get some keys cut, too.

“I’m known in Melton for having some really cool flash cars despite my young age.

“One of the friend’s owners of the car came to me and asked me if I wanted to buy it.

“It’s been sitting on their driveway and hadn’t moved for about 15 years plus.

“It’s one of those cars that I’d known about for a long time but then I’d forgotten about it.

“I found out how special of a car it was and I thought I’d give a French car a go again.

“I’ve never brought anything like this before, usually the cars I buy are in exceptional condition.

“I thought let’s do something different and saw this as a bit of a challenge.”

Cormac purchased the car around a month and a half ago in Asfordby.

The petrolhead has owned many cars in the past four years.

He purchased his first car while he was studying in college – a 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II.

In addition to this, he also picked up a 1998 4.4 Litre Twin Turbo Bentley Arnage.

There have also been two Range Rovers, a Jaguar XJ6, and a Sinclair C5.

Just two months ago, Cormac purchased snooker legend Willie Thorne’s Chrysler 300C, after receiving a message on Facebook asking if he was interested in it.

He has been passionate about motors from a very young age and grew up watching Top Gear.

He has even been branded the next Jeremy Clarkson by others, and his friends in Melton have nicknamed him ‘Mr Rolls Royce’.

Cormac said: “My love of cars probably came from watching Top Gear at a young age, and then that’s obviously what’s fulfilled me into this career.

“The funny thing is none of my family are interested in cars in any way shape or form.

“My dad’s had some pretty cool cars – he’s had a Caterham, Fiat X1/9, and he’s had several Land Rovers but he’s not interested in cars whatsoever.

“When I was in school, cars was all I’d ever talk about but I’ve done well off of it.

“I’ve been branded the next Jeremy Clarkson because of my job.

“My radio show is primarily about cars.”

Cormac has also been recognised for his extravagant style, which has even caught the attention of a high-profile celebrity.

While staying in London, he popped into the Ritz for a drink.

There he met the British music icon, Rod Stewart, who complimented his choice of suit.

He said: “We ended up having some pictures and exchanged a few words about cars as he owns Rolls Royces and Bentleys as well.

“My love for these cars is well-matched by my crazy dress sense.

“I don’t wear normal clothes, I’m very flamboyant and out there as well.”

The car enthusiast has his eye on his next car already– a Rolls Royce Phantom V11.

He hopes to own one of these in the next couple of years, alongside a Bentley Continental GT.

Cormac is also interested in a Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Aventador, an Aston Martin V12 Vantage and a LaFerrari.

He hopes to one day build a collection so that he can open up a museum and would love to be on national TV and national radio.

He added: “My dream car is a Rolls Royce Phantom VII.

“I’m hoping to get the Phantoms in the next couple of years.

“They need to have the right features including starlight headlining, a TV screen and a champagne fridge, to go alongside a Bentley Continental GT.

“My ambition is to get onto national TV and radio, and to be presenting Top Gear and other TV shows as well as a motoring themed radio show.

“I want to make my millions. I have always said when I make it I want to buy a mansion in London Mayfair, which is my favourite place.

“I hope to have a mansion in Monaco with a super-yacht, and a huge car collection with my favourite supercars and classic cars so I can cruise around London and show off.”
