GUANGZHOU, China, July 30, 2024 – XPENG Motors (NYSE: XPEV and HKEX: 9868) has announced significant advancements in AI technology during the XPENG Smart AI Technology Conference. The company is launching the full rollout of the Tianji XOS 5.2 in-car operating system to all eligible XPENG models worldwide. This rollout marks a milestone with the nationwide availability of Unlimited XNGP, now operable without the need for high-definition map coverage.
Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng highlighted the transformative role of AI since 2023, emphasizing advancements in chips, large models, autonomous driving, and robotics. “Among the new leading enterprises riding this AI wave is XPENG,” he stated.

Global Rollout of Tianji XOS 5.2
The beta test of Tianji XOS 5.2 commenced in July for XPENG car owners globally. This update reinforces XPENG’s position as a leader in OTA (over-the-air) update frequency among Chinese electric vehicle brands. The system introduces 484 feature upgrades, covering smart driving, ecosystem connectivity, and smart cockpit enhancements. Notably, the system now supports interconnectivity with the Apple ecosystem, remote voice control, gesture control, and versatile NFC touch control. These upgrades include 80 new customizable dashboard themes, 1,620 new driving modes, and universal screen mirroring.
Nationwide Unlimited XNGP Rollout
XPENG’s Unlimited XNGP upgrade establishes three standards for “nationwide usability”: unlimited cities, routes, and road conditions. The system’s comprehensive testing in over 2,595 cities and 7.56 million kilometers ensures its readiness for varied urban and rural environments.
- Unlimited Cities: XNGP now covers all cities nationwide, independent of HD map constraints.
- Unlimited Routes: Usable on all public roads, with the AI Valet Driver feature navigating through ETC toll stations. By late 2024, it aims to offer door-to-door smart driving.
- Unlimited Road Conditions: Adaptable to complex scenarios, such as U-turns and roundabouts, with real-time AI-driven responses.
XPENG’s AI computing power reserve stands at 2.51 EFLOPS, supporting rapid iteration with one version update every two days and an experience upgrade every two weeks. This capability has allowed five full-scale updates in 70 days since Tianji XOS’s launch on May 20, 2024.
Commitment to Global Expansion and Innovation
XPENG’s Go Global 2.0 strategy has seen the company enter 30 countries, including regions in Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America. In the first half of 2024, XPENG led in export volume among Chinese pure electric brands for mid-to-high-end models, achieving significant sales in Northern Europe and the Middle East.
Upcoming Innovations
XPENG’s S5 liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging station, launching in Q3 2024, promises rapid charging speeds and enhanced safety features. Additionally, the XPENG Mona M03 smart pure electric coupe will be available for viewing in over 100 cities starting August 1.
