Lucid, the luxury electric vehicle startup, is focused on expanding its lineup to achieve the scale needed for long-term success. Key to this growth is the upcoming Lucid Gravity, a three-row SUV, followed by a trio of midsize vehicles.

Alongside new models, Lucid is updating its current flagship, the Air sedan, to improve its drivetrain and software.

The Lucid Gravity, set to launch later this year, will offer two- or three-row configurations, with a starting price around $80,000. Equipped with dual motors, it will deliver 800 horsepower and a 440-mile range.

The Gravity will feature the fastest charging in its class and will initially come in Grand Touring and Touring trims, with a lower-cost Pure version planned later.

Lucid’s future strategy also includes a single-motor front-wheel-drive version of both the Gravity and Air, using the next-generation “Atlas” powertrain. This second-generation powertrain will debut in a midsize platform, rumored to support a sedan (possibly named the Lucid Earth), a two-row crossover, and an all-terrain SUV.

These models are crucial for Lucid’s goal to produce 1 million vehicles annually, with production spread between its Arizona plant and a new factory in Saudi Arabia.

Lucid’s Air sedan will also see continuous updates, with software improvements and advanced electronics from the Gravity being incorporated into the model. However, the 2025 Air won’t include a NACS charging port, which will instead debut on the Gravity.

Lucid is also open to licensing its technology to other automakers, having already struck a deal with Aston Martin for its first battery electric vehicle, set to launch in 2025.

As Lucid expands globally, including a new Detroit office, it aims to leverage local talent and partnerships to scale production and reduce costs, all while staying competitive with Chinese EV startups known for their innovation in software and manufacturing.
