Volkswagen delivered approximately 4.8 million vehicles worldwide in 2024, a slight 1.4% decrease from the previous year, amid economic challenges and intense global competition. The brand retained its position as the top market leader in Germany with a 19.1% share, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and SUVs played a significant role in the year’s results. Volkswagen sold 383,100 BEVs, including 500,000 units of the ID.3 since the ID.

family’s 2019 launch. SUVs accounted for 47% of total deliveries, with the Tiguan and T-Roc among the most popular models.
Regional performance showed growth in South America (+21.1%) and North America (+18.4%), while deliveries declined in Europe (-1.7%) and China (-8.3%).
Despite these challenges, Volkswagen celebrated milestones such as the Polo’s 50th anniversary, with over 20 million units delivered globally, including a record-breaking 172,510 in Brazil last year.
Board Member Martin Sander highlighted the company’s resilience, citing its diverse model range and commitment to meeting customer needs as it enters 2025 with optimism.
