Vintage Ferrari Owned by Chris Evans Up for Sale at £1.5 Million

A vintage Ferrari once owned by TV and radio star Chris Evans is set to sell for £1.5 million. The red 1964 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso, a classic motor with a top speed of 150mph, was one of just 350 ever built.

This particular car, the 16th off the production line, features a 2.9-litre, V12, 240bhp engine and can accelerate from 0-60mph in eight seconds.

Virgin Radio host Evans, known for his keen interest in car collecting, purchased the Ferrari in 2013.

The car’s stunning red paintwork is complemented by a luxurious tan leather interior, adding to its appeal. Evans owned the vehicle for only two years before it was sold.

The auction, managed by RM Sotheby’s, highlights the car’s impressive history. In 2011, chassis 4383 underwent a full restoration at DK Engineering in the UK, completed to concours standards with precisely scaled 250 GTO moulds and drawings used to authentically finish the one-off bodywork.

The following year, it returned to DK Engineering for a mechanical rebuild, resulting in its present classic Ferrari red over tan interior.

After its restoration, the Ferrari was displayed at the Ferrari Owners’ Club GB annual meeting at Walton Hall in 2013. It was then sold to Chris Evans, a renowned collector of Ferraris, through JD Classics.

The Lusso was subsequently bought by its consigning owner, who showcased the car at various shows and events, including the Cartier Style et Luxe concours lawn at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2015. Since then, it has been meticulously maintained by GTO Engineering, with many invoices available for viewing.

Chris Evans, who recently fronted Top Gear and gained fame with shows like The Big Breakfast and TFI Friday, is celebrated for his extensive and valuable car collection, worth several millions of pounds. The auction for this prized Ferrari takes place at Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire, on 12 June, with a guide price between £1.1 million and £1.5 million.
