Kia EV9 owners can now pre-order the Quasar 2, a bi-directional charger from Wallbox that enables Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities.
This innovative system allows properly equipped homes to draw power from the EV9 during outages, peak electricity hours, or inclement weather, effectively turning the SUV into an energy storage solution.

“We’re excited to offer the Quasar 2 and Power Recovery Unit to eligible Kia EV9 drivers,” said Wallbox CEO Enric Asunción. “This technology gives owners greater control over energy use and costs while providing backup power when needed.”
The Quasar 2 delivers up to 12 kW of power for both charging and discharging and will retail for $6,440 (excluding taxes and installation).
Pre-orders are open on a first-come, first-served basis in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Washington, New Jersey, and Illinois, with nationwide availability to follow.
Kia America’s COO, Steven Center, highlighted the EV9’s versatility: “V2H elevates the EV9 beyond mobility, making it an essential part of home energy management.”
The Kia EV9 continues to make waves in 2025 with ultrafast DC charging (10-80% in under 25 minutes), seating for six or seven, and cutting-edge in-vehicle technology. Since its debut, the EV9 has earned accolades including 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year and 2024 World Car of the Year.
