A vintage 1960 Ferrari is set to go under the hammer at an upcoming auction.
The 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, a creation of Ferrari and Italian designer Sergio Scaglietti, is one of the most coveted classic cars ever made, renowned for its performance and elegance.
This particular model, finished in a sleek grey with a dark red leather interior, stands out as one of just 165 produced, according to Luxury Auto News.

Boasting a top speed exceeding 150 mph, the car features a 3.0-liter engine delivering 240 brake horsepower through a four-speed manual gearbox. Notably, it was the first Ferrari to be equipped with disc brakes, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history.
Sotheby’s is handling the sale, with an estimated price range between £5,000,000 and £6,000,000.
A spokesperson for the auction house revealed that the car originally sported a Grigio exterior with a Nero Connolly leather interior and was first registered in Milan.
It remained with its initial owner until 1967 before being sold to Gastone Crepaldi, the proprietor of Milan’s official Ferrari dealership.
During Crepaldi’s ownership, the car was re-bodied in 1971 by the Modena-based Carrozzeria Sports Cars, co-founded by racing driver Piero Drogo, who finished 8th in the 1960 Italian Grand Prix.
This revamp gave the car a more angular, wedge-shaped appearance, attracting a new French owner in 1974.
Four years later, UK racer and collector Rob Lamplough acquired the Ferrari. Lamplough had the car re-bodied once more and entered it into various competitions, including the Silverstone Historic Festival in 1992.
The car, awarded FIA historic race papers, also participated in numerous road rallies and the famed Tour Auto.
Later in 1992, the vehicle was sold to another English owner who commissioned a full chassis restoration, resulting in an alloy body painted gun metal grey with a blue stripe.
This iteration saw further motorsport action before being sold in 1997 to a Washington DC attorney.
A subsequent Belgian owner restored the car to its original factory steel body in 2009. After a period with a French owner, it was sold to the UK-based classic Ferrari dealer Talacrest and then, in 2014, to its current consigning owner.
Under their stewardship, the car’s seats were re-trimmed to their current reddish hue, and a comprehensive service was completed in the summer of 2020 at a cost of £6,202, which included repairing the original fuel tank earlier this year.
This Ferrari comes with a Massini history report documenting its ownership lineage over 64 years, along with its original factory build sheet and the coveted “Red Book.”
As an exemplar of Ferrari’s iconic design, it is ready to be cherished in a collection, displayed at marque events, or entered into competitive outings.
Bidders can now register for the auction, which will be held in Taplow, Berkshire.
