Toyota has taken its all-electric bZ4X SUV to creative new heights, transforming the vehicle into a mobile work of art through a unique collaboration with muralists from across the United States.
The initiative brought together artists from Boston, Portland, and Reno, each of whom reimagined the bZ4X’s sleek form as a canvas inspired by their hometowns.
The artists—Sophy Tuttle of Boston, Blaine Fontana of Portland, and Erik T. Burke of Reno—first painted large-scale murals in their respective cities.

Toyota then wrapped three bZ4X vehicles with these original designs and sent them to Miami, where they became rolling exhibits during the prestigious Art Week event. The initiative aimed to blend electrified mobility with regional identity and personal artistic expression.
“At Toyota we believe that creativity and the arts are essential for building strong communities,” said Owen Peacock, general manager of Toyota Vehicle and Marketing Communications.

“We’re thrilled that the bZ4X could play a part in these artists’ expression of what their hometown means to them and the role that electrified mobility plays today and tomorrow.”
Each artist infused their mural with local character. In Boston, Tuttle highlighted the circular elements of the bZ4X, incorporating native Massachusetts species in a fluid, organic composition. In Portland, Fontana embraced the car’s sculptural contours with a vibrant 3D mural featuring feathers, leaves, and water forms from the Pacific Northwest, framed by a topographic map of the Cascade Mountains.

In Reno, Burke transformed the car into a vertical landscape, using the vehicle’s elongated lights and wheel wells as integral design elements resembling spring poppies and beveled steps, evoking a sense of environmental transformation.
This celebration of local art and innovation ties into Toyota’s broader commitment to sustainability and community.
As part of a nearly 70-year legacy in the U.S., Toyota employs nearly 48,000 people and operates 11 manufacturing plants, with a new facility in North Carolina set to begin producing automotive batteries in 2025.
Currently offering 31 electrified models, Toyota leads the industry in putting electrified vehicles on American roads.
The bZ4X mural project highlights not only the vehicle’s cutting-edge design but also Toyota’s vision of electrified transport as a platform for cultural expression and community engagement.
