Toyota has secured its ninth Formula DRIFT Auto Cup title after an intense season finale at Irwindale Speedway, California. The automaker reclaimed the top spot in the 2024 Formula DRIFT season, marking another milestone in its motorsport success.

“We are pleased to take back the top spot on the podium,” said Paul Doleshal, group manager of motorsports at Toyota Motor North America. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work of our teams and drivers, who pushed their Toyota vehicles to the limits. We look forward to continued success in drifting.”

Three of Toyota’s GR models—the GR Supra, GR Corolla Hatchback, and GR86—competed in the championship. Leading the Toyota lineup, Fredric Aasbo, a multi-time champion, won in Atlanta and finished on the podium in St. Louis. His teammate, Ryan Tuerck, also had a standout season, clinching victory in Seattle. Drivers Ken Gushi and Jhonnattan Castro added to the team’s strong performance, with Gushi taking fourth at Long Beach and Castro reaching the Great 8 in Seattle.

Toyota’s dominance in Formula DRIFT began with its Scion brand, winning three consecutive Auto Cup titles from 2014 to 2016. The automaker continued its success with titles in 2017, 2018, 2019, and most recently in 2021 and 2022.

With over 65 years of history in North America, Toyota is committed to advancing next-generation mobility through its Toyota and Lexus brands, employing more than 63,000 people and offering 30 electrified vehicle options. The company is set to begin manufacturing automotive batteries at its 13th North American plant in 2025.
