Toyota is ramping up its production capabilities at the Huntsville plant with a significant $282 million investment.

This expansion not only enhances the facility’s output but also brings in more than 350 new high-quality jobs, reinforcing Toyota’s dedication to reinvesting profits in its U.S. operations.

This latest funding boosts the total investment in Toyota Alabama to over $1.7 billion. Known for its engine production, the plant will now also introduce new lines for drivetrain products.

Jason Puckett, president of Toyota Alabama, highlighted the importance of the local workforce, stating, “Our Alabama team members’ unwavering commitment to quality and continuous improvement ensures their capability to handle the new production lines. These additions will enhance the plant’s versatility and demonstrate Toyota’s dedication to our team and the community.”

Toyota Alabama stands as the company’s largest engine manufacturing site in North America, employing over 2,000 workers who produced more than 770,000 engines in 2023.

Reflecting on his experience, Marcus Calhoun, a team leader at Toyota Alabama, shared, “I’ve spent eight years building high-quality Toyota engines and am thrilled about introducing new products to our plant.

Toyota was my first job in manufacturing, and now I lead a team. I’m eager to help current and future team members acquire the necessary skills for this new project.”

The Huntsville plant supplies engines to seven Toyota vehicle plants across North America. The engines produced here power models including the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, RAV4, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, and Tundra.

Governor Kay Ivey praised Toyota’s long-standing impact on Alabama’s automotive industry, noting, “For over two decades,

Toyota has been a cornerstone of Alabama’s auto industry, driving multiple expansions that have boosted the Huntsville facility’s capabilities and workforce. This new investment will build on the plant’s legacy and create further opportunities for the local community.”
