Tom’s Truck Center, a leader in commercial truck sales and part of the Nikola dealer network, has opened the first hydrogen refueling station at a truck dealership.

The Nikola HYLA modular hydrogen station, located at Tom’s Santa Fe Springs site in Los Angeles County, is strategically positioned along Highway 5, one of the nation’s busiest routes.

The station features 700-bar high-pressure equipment, capable of refueling up to 30 trucks daily, operating Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This location minimizes downtime for heavy-duty trucks, such as the Nikola hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, while supporting California’s push for clean transportation.

“California is laying the foundation for a hydrogen-powered future, and we are proud to help drive this transition,” said Tom’s Truck Center President and CEO KC Heidler. He emphasized the importance of hydrogen infrastructure for reducing emissions and improving air quality.

The unveiling event was attended by notable figures, including State Senators Josh Newman and Bob Archuleta, and Nikola CEO Stephen Girsky. Senator Newman called the station a critical step in California’s decarbonization efforts.

Other HYLA stations are operational in Long Beach and Ontario, with 14 expected across California by the end of 2024. Tom’s plans to open a permanent hydrogen refueling station by 2026, further cementing its role in advancing zero-emission transport.

Established in 1949, Tom’s Truck Center offers sales, rentals, leasing, and service for EV and hydrogen trucks, helping customers navigate incentives and infrastructure needs.
