A 32-year-old Ford Escort has sold for 12 times its original price of £118,000.
The 1993 motor had just one owner and 25,000 miles on the clock.
The RS Cosworth Lux Big Turbo would have originally retailed for around £10,000, which is the equivalent of £21,000 now, taking inflation into account.

The car can do a top speed of 147mph and it whizzes from 0-60mph in just 5.9 seconds.
It was one of only 7,145 ever made.
It also has a full-service history and had its cambelt changed three years ago.
The navy blue motor – an affordable ‘supercar’ of its day – also boasts its trademark rear spoiler.
It was auctioned by Iconic Auctioneers on Saturday (May 17) at Sywell, near Northampton, as reported by Luxury Auto News.
Prior to its sale, the listing agent said it was available as a road car from 1992 to 1996 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering team.
It said: “Powered by the familiar two-litre turbocharged, longitudinally-mounted, Cosworth-developed engine driving all four wheels, the Stephen Harper-designed car was engineered in Boreham with final assembly by Karmann in Germany.
“Only 7,145 Ford Escort RS Cosworth examples were ever produced, with the original and highly coveted ‘Big Turbo’ models numbering just 2,500, being built specifically for homologation.”
The motor sold in a “striking and sought after paint colour” known as Pacifica Blue, one of five launch colours chosen by Ford to showcase their new ‘halo’ model.
It was built at the Rhein Assembly Plant in Germany in November 1992 and registered new on 15 January 1993.
The car’s previous owner was Vice Chairman of the Hertfordshire and North London RS Owners Club.
The listing added: “This is an exceptional Ford in every respect, undoubtedly ‘collector quality’, with just a single previous recorded owner.
“Continuous upkeep, servicing and storage by Ford marque enthusiasts and a low but usable mileage, ensuring it can still be ‘exercised’ on the right days.
“Reminding its lucky owner just how well they perform and why they have become so sought after.”
