“Austin Powers’ signature 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, known as the “Shaguar,” played a starring role in all three of the blockbuster movie series spoofs that were produced and starred in by Mike Myers, and only one car was created to fill the role.

“Every superspy needs special transportation, and Austin Powers was no exception. His car had to be absolutely, definitively British—an icon, just like the superspy.
“But, of course, it also had to hail back to the old era from which Powers emerged—something of a relic but a legend from its time.

“The production settled on a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster at the advice of Ray Claridge, owner of Cinema Vehicle Services, and Josh Hancock, owner of Joshcar, with whom Roach and Myers expressed their ideas for using a Jaguar but had no idea on exactly which Jaguar to choose.

“No matter, Hancock sourced and prepped the E-Type and worked with the production to create a car that was a character all its own within the film.

“It would be known as Shaguar, complete with a rear decklid badge spelling it out.”
