The Corvette Z06 GT3.R hits the track this weekend for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, showcasing just how closely linked Chevrolet’s race cars are to their road-going counterparts.

Unlike many race cars built purely for competition, the Z06 GT3.R shares its DNA with the production Corvette Z06, including a chassis that rolls off the same Bowling Green assembly line and an LT6 5.5-liter V8 engine that is 80% identical to the road version.

According to Corvette Racing program manager Jessica Dane, the GT3.R is GM Motorsports’ best example of tech transfer between racing and production cars.

Beyond engineering, racing also strengthens the connection between Chevrolet and its customers. At events like the Rolex 24, Corvette owners gather at Corvette Corrals, where they interact with drivers and team members, deepening their passion for the brand.

The Corvette Z06 GT3.R is already off to a strong start in 2024, securing class victories at the Rolex 24 and the Qatar 1812km. Now, customer teams aim for a third consecutive win at Sebring on March 15. For GM, racing isn’t just about competition—it’s about refining the technology that fuels the future of Corvette performance.
