With American cities losing 36 million trees annually due to disease, aging, and extreme weather, this effort is vital for improving urban environments. Trees offer numerous benefits, including removing CO2 from the air, providing oxygen, cooling urban areas, and mitigating the impacts of heat waves and air pollution.

Subaru’s Senior VP of Marketing, Alan Bethke, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Subaru’s ongoing environmental commitment to waste reduction, resource conservation, and enhancing natural spaces.

Subaru’s support will help the Arbor Day Foundation expand its community tree projects, funding hundreds of projects yearly and ensuring that native tree species are carefully selected to suit local climates.

Dan Lambe, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation, praised Subaru’s leadership in addressing climate change, noting the positive impact of trees in reducing extreme heat and air pollution.

To kick off the partnership, Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation will distribute 200 mature, native trees in Camden, NJ, during a neighborhood cleanup event. This effort will improve tree canopies, air quality, water conservation, and overall community well-being.
