Subaru Motorsports USA has officially unveiled the 2024 WRX Project Midnight, their fastest and most powerful WRX to date. Set to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14, this high-performance machine promises to push the boundaries of tarmac speed, building on the success of the record-breaking “Airslayer” Gymkhana car.

The new WRX, driven by ex-F1 driver and rallycross champion Scott Speed, boasts a formidable 670 horsepower from a turbocharged 2.0-liter BOXER engine. Weighing in at just 2,469 lbs, thanks to a carbon fiber body and a significantly lightened chassis, Project Midnight is nearly 300 lbs lighter than its predecessor, Airslayer, and 1,000 lbs lighter than a standard WRX.

Under the hood, the engine’s 680 lb-ft of torque and ability to rev to 9,500 rpm are set to make waves in the motorsports community. This powerplant is an evolution of the engine that helped Subaru win the Nitro Rallycross Teams Championship in 2021.
