Aston Martin’s flagship V12 sports car, the Vanquish, has inspired Reflections of Speed, a monumental light sculpture by renowned British-American artist Anthony James.
Unveiled at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont ahead of Frieze Los Angeles, this immersive artwork celebrates the synergy between automotive design and contemporary art.
Created over 12 months in James’ LA studio, the 5.4m x 2.6m sculpture uses his signature blend of light, geometry, and modern materials to bring the Vanquish to life.

The result is a striking fusion of art and engineering, reflecting the car’s fluid curves, dynamic stance, and meticulous craftsmanship.
“Vanquish is more than just a car — it’s a sculpture in motion,” said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer. “With its proportional perfection and striking silhouette, Vanquish, like any great work of art, is designed to inspire and captivate.”
Known for creating endless reflections through mirrored surfaces and LED lighting, James has long drawn inspiration from automotive culture.
He describes Reflections of Speed as his most ambitious and technically advanced work to date, seamlessly integrating Aston Martin’s artistry into his own.
The piece debuted in collaboration with The Art Newspaper and will be displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum before being offered for sale. Proceeds will support the museum and the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund, aiding artists affected by recent wildfires.
