Stellantis Pro One has confirmed its ongoing collaboration with French tech firm Qinomic in launching a retrofit system that converts light commercial vehicles (LCVs) with combustion engines into electric models.

The initiative, first unveiled during a press event in France, is aimed at extending vehicle lifespans while promoting sustainable mobility and cost-efficiency.

Initially available for mid-size vans including the Fiat Professional Scudo, Opel Vivaro, Peugeot Expert, and Citroën Jumpy, the technology reflects a two-and-a-half-year development journey between Qinomic, Stellantis Pro One, and SUSTAINera—Stellantis’ circular economy business unit.

As part of a closed-loop strategy, Qinomic will purchase over 200 original Stellantis components needed for the electric conversion, mainly related to the battery and motor systems.

In turn, Stellantis will buy back the original thermal components—such as engines, gearboxes, tanks, and exhausts—for remanufacturing through SUSTAINera’s hub in Mirafiori, Turin.

This OEM-grade solution meets key safety, durability, and homologation standards while reducing CO₂ emissions. It offers a sustainable alternative to purchasing new vehicles, with benefits including lower running costs and improved mobility freedom.

The project highlights Stellantis’ commitment to decarbonization and the principles of a circular economy.

Stellantis Pro One is targeting a 40% electric mix and full over-the-air capabilities across its new vehicle lineup by 2026, supporting the group’s broader goal of becoming carbon net zero by 2038.
