Former football star and Olympic champion Sergio Agüero is making a surprising transition to motorsport, set to drive the Porsche 99X Electric in a special Formula E event in Miami on March 5-6.
As part of the innovative “Evo Sessions” content series, Agüero will train with world champion Pascal Wehrlein before taking the wheel of the highly efficient GEN3 Evo race car.

“This is absolutely crazy: from footballer to racing driver in one of the fastest cars in the world,” said Agüero. “Porsche represents an iconic motorsport heritage, and I’m thrilled for this unique opportunity.”
Agüero is undergoing intensive preparation, including simulator training and track sessions with Porsche’s e-sports works team.

The 99X Electric, known for its rapid acceleration and advanced energy recuperation system, will demand precise control—a challenge both Agüero and the Porsche team are embracing.

Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E at Porsche, welcomed the ex-striker: “Training a non-motorsport athlete in such a short time is a huge challenge, but we’re excited for this innovative project.”
Fans can follow Agüero’s journey on Porsche’s social media channels, with the highly anticipated event in Miami aiming to bring new audiences to Formula E.
