Rod Stewart’s Classic Lamborghini Expected to Fetch Nearly £1 Million at Auction

Rod Stewart’s former 1977 Lamborghini Countach LP400 is up for sale and expected to fetch nearly £1 million. This iconic red sports car, known for its sleek design and impressive performance, was owned by the legendary singer for 25 years. Stewart, now 78, originally purchased the car while on tour in Australia.

His love for the Lamborghini was so strong that he took it with him to the USA and later brought it back to the UK.

The Countach, one of only 157 ever made, boasts a top speed of 180mph. It is part of a collection of 87 luxury cars set to go under the hammer on February 1. The guide price for Stewart’s Lamborghini is up to £920,000.

The auction listing details the car’s fascinating history: built in right-hand drive for the Australian market, it left the Sant’Agata production line in June 1977, initially painted in Rosso with a Tobacco trim.

While in the USA, Stewart had Albert Madikian Engineering modify it to include a full wide-body kit and an open-top targa roof. In 1987, the LP400 was brought to the UK, remaining in Stewart’s possession until 2002.

The Sotheby’s auction, where the Lamborghini will be featured, includes an impressive array of other high-end vehicles.

Among them is a 2022 Bugatti Chiron Profilée, anticipated to sell for up to £4.8 million, and known as one of the most advanced hypercars ever made with a top speed of 236mph. Only 500 units were produced.

For those with a slightly lower budget, a 2003 Ferrari Enzo with just over 10,000 miles on the clock is estimated to sell for £3.7 million.

A 1964 Aston Martin DB5, similar to the one featured in the James Bond film “Goldfinger,” is tipped to fetch up to £682,000. Additionally, a 1951 Porsche 356 ‘Split-Window’ Coupé by Reutter, celebrated as Porsche’s first great sports car, is expected to sell for around £480,000.

At the more affordable end of the spectrum, a 1984 Agostini Countach Junior ‘Closed Roof’ Car is listed for approximately £17,000. However, this model is a children’s ride-on toy rather than a full-sized car.

The auction, taking place in Paris, is the largest of its kind ever held in the city, featuring an extraordinary collection of classic and modern vehicles.
