A Ferrari once owned by former footballer and current BBC and BT Sport pundit Robbie Savage has been sold at auction for a surprisingly low £54,000. The ex-sports car, a Ferrari F430 Spider, was anticipated to fetch around £80,000 but went under the hammer for £26,000 below its expected price.
Savage, 48, who played for Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League when he purchased the car in 2006, initially bought the sleek vehicle for approximately £100,000. He was celebrating Blackburn’s participation in the Uefa Cup at the time.
The Ferrari, capable of reaching speeds of 193 mph and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, had only 26,000 miles on the odometer and came with a valid MoT, with no advisories, extending until May next year.

Despite these impressive details, the car sold for much less than expected at the H&H Classics auction held in Duxford, Cambridgeshire. Savage, now the director of football at non-league club Macclesfield, has a history of spending extravagantly on luxury vehicles, having owned Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, and Porsches. Over his career, he admits to having spent over £500,000 on high-end cars.
The auction listing highlighted the car’s comprehensive service history and notable previous owner. It described the Ferrari F430 Spider’s specifications: “Displacing 4308cc, its ‘quad cam’, 32-valve V8 was quoted as developing 483bhp and 343lbft of torque.
Allied to either manual or F1-style ‘paddle shift’ transmission, both six-speed, it enabled the F430 Spider to sprint from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and reach over 193mph.”
Interestingly, Savage’s choice of the F430 Spider was also shared by football legend Lionel Messi, adding a touch of extra prestige to the vehicle’s history. Despite its notable pedigree and impressive specifications, the car’s final auction price turned out to be a relative bargain for the lucky buyer.
