Rivian has finalized a $6.6 billion loan agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support the construction of its new manufacturing facility in Stanton Springs North, Georgia.

The plant will focus on producing the company’s upcoming R2 SUV and R3 crossover models, with construction starting in 2026 and vehicle production slated for 2028. The project is expected to create 7,500 jobs, reinforcing U.S. leadership in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

The loan, split into two phases, allocates $3.4 billion for the first stage and $2.6 billion for the second. Rivian aims to design a state-of-the-art, environmentally conscious facility that incorporates modern construction techniques, preserves natural spaces, and invests in local communities.

Recruitment for construction and management roles in Georgia is already underway, with hiring efforts set to expand as construction nears.

“This loan will accelerate the launch of our Georgia plant and bring thousands of jobs to the state,” said Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe. “It’s a key step toward expanding capacity for our mass-market EVs and strengthening U.S. leadership in sustainable transportation.”

The facility is positioned less than an hour from Atlanta and will play a crucial role in Rivian’s strategy to scale production while maintaining its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The announcement reinforces Rivian’s mission to lead the transition to zero-emission transportation and highlights the company’s dedication to preserving the natural world for future generations.
