Rivian has launched its first next-generation Rivian Adventure Network charging site at Joshua Tree, California, marking a key milestone in its mission to support widespread EV adoption.
These new chargers are compatible with Rivian’s R1T and R1S models and other non-Rivian EVs, with plans to expand the network to locations in Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Montana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New York throughout the year.

The chargers support rapid charging up to 900 volts, featuring CCS connectors and future compatibility with North American Charging Standard (NACS)-equipped vehicles through hardware updates.
Enhanced features include larger displays, tap-to-pay options, and seamless authentication for Rivian users. The chargers also meet federal and state funding requirements, ensuring reliability and accessibility for all EV drivers.
Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe emphasized the importance of a robust charging network to complement the company’s vehicles, saying, “Creating great products like the R1T and R1S is only half the equation. A reliable charging network is essential for widespread electrification.”
These chargers will operate on 100% renewable energy, enabling drivers to contribute to grid decarbonization while charging. As Rivian scales its network, it also plans to generate revenue while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation.
