In a fitting tribute to two icons, Porsche has marked the 50th anniversary of its Turbo models alongside the 50th anniversary of the Transfăgărășan Highway—widely hailed as one of the world’s best driving roads.
The event, held from September 4-11, brought together 60 journalists from 16 countries to experience a thrilling 300-km drive through Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, showcasing both classic and modern Porsche Turbo models.

Participants drove the latest Turbo variants, including the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid and 911 Turbo S, while also getting behind the wheel of iconic cars from the Porsche Museum, such as the 930-generation 911 Turbo 3.3.
The event’s hub, Hotel Castelnor, was transformed into the “House of Turbo,” featuring a display of Turbo memorabilia and historic Porsche models.
This unique experience celebrated Porsche’s engineering legacy, combining breathtaking driving on the serpentine roads of the Transfăgărășan with the raw power of Porsche’s turbocharged machines.
As Porsche Central and Eastern Europe’s PR Head, Venceslas Monzini, remarked, “The Transfăgărășan is perfect for the models that built the Porsche Turbo legend.”
