Porsche and Michelin have introduced the Pilot Sport S 5, a new road-legal track tyre designed specifically for wet and low-temperature conditions.
Developed for the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS, the tyre extends the track-day season by offering superior grip, safety, and performance in challenging weather.
Responding to demand from performance-focused customers, the Pilot Sport S 5 complements Porsche’s ultra-high-performance Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, establishing a new segment for wet-weather track tyres.

It features a specially designed tread pattern with four large central grooves and a 7.4mm tread depth to optimize water displacement and improve aquaplaning resistance. A high silica content in the rubber compound enhances grip and allows the tyre to reach operating temperatures quickly, performing best between 5°C and 15°C.

Porsche test drivers, including brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, contributed to its development. Testing at Michelin’s Ladoux facility demonstrated a 10-second faster lap time on wet circuits compared to previous Porsche-approved tyres.

Extensive trials at the Nürburgring and Portimão also confirmed strong performance in dry conditions, even in temperatures above 20°C.
Initially available in 275/35 ZR 20 (front) and 335/30 ZR 21 (rear), the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 will be exclusively distributed by Manthey, Porsche’s performance specialist at the Nürburgring.
