Stellantis has announced a major milestone for its STLA Medium platform, as the new Peugeot E-3008 demonstrated long-range electric vehicle (EV) capability by completing a Paris-to-Nice journey with only two charging stops.

This performance, achieved with the platform’s long-range BEV system, underscores its ability to support extended highway travel at speeds of up to 130 km/h, closely matching the convenience of an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle with fewer stops.

The journey, conducted at an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, highlights the STLA Medium’s 701-kilometer range in the WLTP cycle, now proven in real-world driving conditions.

This new benchmark for EV efficiency aligns with Stellantis’ commitment to delivering technology that meets customer needs, offering drivers extended trips with minimal recharging.

“The STLA Medium platform’s long-range capability makes it ideal for long-distance travel without compromising on the convenience and efficiency of a BEV,” said Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic.

Vehicles built on the STLA Medium platform, including the Peugeot E-3008, E-5008, and the Opel Grandland, are set to define new standards for EV travel. Simulations predict similar real-world performance for journeys such as Turin to Naples and Prague to Brussels, achieving nearly 1,000 kilometers with just two charging stops—placing the platform at the forefront of its class.

The platform’s performance is bolstered by Stellantis’ high-performance ACC batteries produced at the Billy-Berclau/Douvrin gigafactory in France, reinforcing Stellantis’ vertically integrated approach to battery production for enhanced quality and reliability.

Stellantis plans to extend this platform’s reach with five additional models by 2026, driving forward its Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan to achieve carbon net zero by 2038, while delivering clean and affordable mobility solutions across its diverse global brand portfolio.
