Opel is enhancing its hybrid lineup with the introduction of the stylish Opel Mokka Hybrid, now featuring 48-volt technology. This new model, available for order starting at €31,915 in Germany (including VAT), combines a 100 kW (136 hp) turbocharged petrol engine with a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and an electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

This setup results in fuel consumption reductions and CO2 emissions decreases of up to 20%. The Mokka Hybrid is capable of driving purely on electric power at low speeds, making it a perfect fit for urban environments with zero local emissions.

According to WLTP standards, the Opel Mokka Hybrid boasts a fuel consumption of 4.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 110 g/km, earning a CO2 class C rating. In contrast, the non-electrified Opel Mokka 1.2 Direct Injection Turbo with an eight-speed automatic transmission consumes 6.1 l/100 km and emits 137 g/km of CO2, categorized under CO2 class E.

Opel’s Head of Germany, Patrick Dinger, commented on the new model, stating, “The new Mokka Hybrid with 48-volt technology sits between the all-electric and conventional drive in our Mokka line-up. The new electrified hybrid system makes driving the Mokka even more efficient for our customers. Those who have not yet sat behind the wheel of an electric car can experience for themselves the benefits of pure electric drive in the city, without more ado.”

The Mokka Hybrid’s electrified powertrain includes a 48-volt lithium-ion battery that recharges automatically during deceleration, with no need for external power sources. The electric motor assists the petrol engine during acceleration and starts from a standstill, providing immediate torque at low speeds, which enhances driving dynamics and reduces CO2 emissions. The vehicle can drive fully on electric power for up to one kilometer or 50% of the time in urban settings.

This advanced hybrid system offers fuel savings of around 20% compared to conventional models. The system’s optimal coordination ensures the best performance with minimal energy consumption, contributing to significant fuel efficiency and enhanced driving comfort.

Drivers can choose from Eco, Normal, and Sport modes, with the Mokka Hybrid accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 207 km/h. Despite its advanced hybrid technology, the Mokka Hybrid retains its compact design, ensuring no loss of interior space.

Inside, the Mokka Hybrid features the familiar Pure Panel cockpit with additional hybrid-specific displays. The fully digital driver information center and color touchscreen provide essential data, including power and speed displays that light up blue during electric-only driving and white when the combustion engine is running. Additional displays show energy flow between the battery, petrol engine, and wheels, as well as the battery’s state of charge.

A trip summary provides details on distance traveled, journey time, average consumption, remaining range, and the percentage of the route driven purely on electric power.

In summary, the Opel Mokka Hybrid offers a blend of efficiency, style, and advanced hybrid technology, making it an attractive option for environmentally conscious drivers seeking a versatile and compact SUV.
