Rüsselsheim, July 2024 – The Opel Corsa continues its dominance in the German automotive market, emerging as the country’s most popular small car in the first half of 2024. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the Corsa registered 20,231 new units across all drive variants, with the Corsa Electric leading the segment for battery-electric small cars.
Since its debut in 1982, the Opel Corsa has sold over 14.6 million units worldwide, maintaining its position as Germany’s best-selling small car for the past three years. The latest model, featuring the Opel Vizor brand face and an intuitive digital cockpit, continues to uphold Opel’s commitment to making advanced mobility and technology accessible to a broad audience.

Opel’s market share saw significant growth, rising to 5.8% in June 2024 from 5.2% in June 2023. This increase is part of a broader upward trend for the brand, with 17,107 new Opel passenger cars registered in June, marking a 17.9% increase compared to June 2023. In the first six months of 2024, Opel achieved a market share of 5.2% with 77,235 new registrations, reflecting a 15.5% growth over the same period in 2023.
“Opel has achieved an excellent result so far this year. Among the German brands, Opel even achieved the largest increase in registrations in June. As the segment leader in the first half of the year, our bestseller Corsa made a major contribution to this. The significant growth in new registrations of Opel passenger cars shows that our model range is well tailored to the needs of customers,” said Patrick Dinger, head of Opel Germany.
