Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has released its production, sales, and export data for October 2024, revealing mixed performance across key metrics.
Production
- Global production fell 6.3% year-on-year, totaling 290,848 vehicles.
- Japan production declined 3.8% to 64,516 vehicles, while production outside Japan dropped 7.0% to 226,332 vehicles.
- Increases were noted in Mexico (+12.0%) and “Others” markets (+3.0%), but significant declines occurred in the U.S. (-15.0%), the U.K. (-22.8%), and China (-15.0%).
- Year-to-date global production (Jan.-Oct.) reached 2,651,780 vehicles, a 7.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

Sales
- Global sales in October totaled 271,549 vehicles, down 2.7% from October 2023.
- Japan sales, including minivehicles, fell 1.0% to 35,584 units. While registered passenger vehicles grew 2.6%, minivehicle sales declined by 6.5%.
- Sales outside Japan declined 3.0%, with North America performing well (+12.8%) and Europe (+5.3% YTD). However, sales in China fell significantly (-16.5% in October, -10.0% YTD).
- Year-to-date global sales (Jan.-Oct.) rose slightly to 2,777,398 vehicles (+0.1%).
Exports from Japan
- Exports from Japan rose 11.6% in October, totaling 40,502 vehicles.
- Strong growth was seen in shipments to North America (+30.1%) and Europe (+20.6%), offsetting a 12.4% decline in exports to “Others” markets.
- Year-to-date exports totaled 321,360 vehicles, a 5.0% decrease compared to 2023.
Despite challenges in production and sales in some regions, Nissan’s export performance in October showed notable recovery, particularly in key markets like North America and Europe.
