Shanghai, July 27, 2024 – NIO has successfully held its AI-themed NIO IN 2024 event at the Shanghai World Expo Center, showcasing several technological advancements. The highlights include the world’s first 5nm AD chip, the launch of SkyOS, the Banyan 3 AI system, the NIO World Model, and the all-new NIO Phone.
Pioneering 5nm AD Chip – NX9031
NIO announced the successful tape-out of the NX9031, the world’s first 5nm AD chip. Independently designed by NIO, this chip integrates over 50 billion transistors, offering performance equivalent to four leading industry chips. The NX9031 sets a new standard in the automotive industry, marking a significant milestone in intelligent driving technology.

SkyOS – The Future of Smart EVs
SkyOS, NIO’s full-domain operating system, was officially revealed. This innovative system consolidates various fragmented domain operating systems, ensuring seamless integration across vehicle applications such as connectivity, control, intelligent driving, and digital cockpits. SkyOS represents a critical foundation for NIO’s smart electric vehicles, promising enhanced user experiences and robust performance.
Banyan 3 – AI-Driven Smart System
NIO introduced Banyan 3, its first AI-driven smart system. Banyan 3 incorporates the NOMI GPT architecture, enhancing the cabin experience with proactive intelligence. The system includes the NIO SkyOS-C architecture, multiple AI models, and AI-native applications, offering personalized services and superior driving experiences like the 4D Smart Suspension and Rear Comfort Mode.
NIO World Model – Advanced Intelligent Driving
China’s first world model for assisted and intelligent driving, the NIO World Model (NWM), was unveiled. This model utilizes a multivariable autoregressive generative approach for data understanding, scenario reasoning, and decision-making. Integrated into the NADArch2.0 architecture, NWM enhances prediction accuracy and driving safety by processing raw sensor data for end-to-end decision-making.
All-New NIO Phone
The NIO Phone, featuring no ads or pre-installed third-party apps, was launched. It comes with SkyUI, NOMI GPT support for conversational scenarios, and NIO Link connectivity for seamless phone-car interaction. The phone includes the Gen-3 Snapdragon 8 processor, up to 16GB RAM, and a 6.82-inch 2K resolution screen.
