NIO has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Green Design International Award by the World Green Design Organization (WGDO) for the sustainable interior designs of its electric vehicles, the NIO ET5 Touring and NIO ET7.
The recognition highlights NIO’s commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of its design process, from material selection to production.
Key innovations include the use of recycled PET bottles for interior materials, extensive use of recycled aluminum, and the introduction of sustainable rattan as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic in vehicle components.

Hui Zhang, NIO Europe’s Vice President, emphasized the brand’s dedication to combining innovation and responsibility, reflecting its vision of “Blue Sky Coming.”
The vehicles also feature aerodynamic designs to maximize efficiency and reduce energy consumption. NIO’s approach extends beyond production, with initiatives for recycling batteries and vehicle components to minimize environmental impact.
The WGDO, established in Brussels in 2013, annually recognizes global leaders in sustainable design, fostering solutions for climate protection and resource conservation. NIO’s achievements reinforce its role in advancing environmentally conscious mobility.
