The pilot will focus on key areas such as depot charging efficiency, vehicle uptime, and cost minimization. Using over 200 Ford F-150® Lightning® trucks and more than 150 Ford Pro Chargers, including Level 2 AC and Level 3 DC stations, the program will leverage Ford Pro Intelligence and Charging Software to analyze data on charging behavior and energy use. This information will help Southern Company improve fleet management and advise its 587,000 business customers on integrating EVs.

A critical aspect of the pilot is developing strategies for demand response curtails, which involve scheduling energy transfers to avoid peak demand periods. Insights from the pilot will guide Southern Company in creating a scalable, flexible blueprint for electric fleet management that other businesses can adopt.

“This pilot will create a flexible, scalable electric fleet management model that can be readily adopted by others,” said Ananya Gupta, Senior Product Manager. By the program’s end, businesses will have a practical roadmap to successfully transition to EVs while maximizing their benefits.

Stay tuned for updates as Southern Company and Ford Pro pave the way for scalable, cost-effective EV adoption across the southeastern U.S.
