Porsche’s new Panamera top model has set a new benchmark on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Driven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, a pre-series variant of the high-performance touring saloon completed the legendary circuit 5.64 seconds faster than its predecessor, clocking in at 7:24.17 minutes.
On Friday, Lars Kern established this new record time for luxury class cars with combustion engines and hybrids. This achievement adds to Kern’s previous Nordschleife records in 2016 and 2020 with earlier Panamera models, including the Panamera Turbo S.

“The new Panamera has made significant gains in transverse dynamic capabilities,” Kern remarked. “In technically demanding sections, it responds with noticeably greater agility.”
The latest Panamera’s impressive lap time highlights the ongoing development of the four-door sports car. Its performance is powered by an electrically supported eight-cylinder combustion engine, but the improved lap time is attributed to multiple factors. “The powertrain, the aerodynamics, the chassis, the new ultra-high-performance tyres from Michelin – many aspects have contributed to this best time,” Kern noted. The new Porsche Active Ride chassis, in particular, has enhanced the car’s cornering and body stability, combining day-to-day comfort with high-performance handling.
For safety, the record-setting Panamera was equipped with a racing seat and mandatory safety cage but remained otherwise true to the series version. Specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and an optional Carbon Aerokit contributed to optimized performance, improving aerodynamic balance by eliminating lift on the front axle and generating downforce with a Gurney flap on the adaptive rear spoiler.
