Lexus has unveiled its first-ever hybrid version of its flagship SUV, the LX 700h. The new model combines a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission, offering permanent 4×4 capabilities and the ability to wade through water up to 700 mm deep.
Though it won’t be available in Poland, the LX 700h will debut in select markets later this year, marking a significant step in Lexus’ electrified offerings.

The LX 700h features a parallel hybrid system where the electric motor is positioned between the V6 engine and the transmission.
This setup allows the hybrid SUV to maintain its off-road performance, including a reduction gear and hydrokinetic transmission, ensuring power is distributed to the wheels effectively in various conditions. Impressively, the LX 700h can operate in electric mode for off-road driving, adding versatility.
In a first for Lexus hybrids, the LX 700h includes both an alternator and a starter motor. This setup provides backup in case of a hybrid system failure, allowing the SUV to run solely on its combustion engine. Even in limp mode, all essential functions, including off-road capabilities, remain operational.
The hybrid system doesn’t compromise the LX’s rugged nature. The battery is housed in a waterproof casing, preserving the vehicle’s off-road prowess, including its ability to wade through water as efficiently as other versions.
Lexus has also reinforced the vehicle’s TNGA platform to support the additional weight of the hybrid system without affecting ground clearance. Additionally, the hybrid model can serve as a mobile power source, offering outputs of up to 2,400W depending on the market.
The LX 700h’s chassis has been refined through extensive testing, ensuring confident performance on both asphalt and rough terrains. Features like the updated Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) system further enhance its handling and comfort in different environments.
Lexus has also introduced significant updates across the LX range, including new 12.3-inch digital displays, the latest Lexus Safety System+ with features like an improved Pre-Collision System (PCS), and redesigned seats for added comfort.
An Overtrail version also debuts, featuring a black grille, matte gray 18-inch aluminum wheels, unique upholstery, and exclusive Moon Desert paint, along with front and rear locking differentials for enhanced off-road capability.
