Now, Ms May is sharing advice for anyone looking to invest in a pre-owned vehicle.

The video has over 200,000 views so far with five key tips.

CHECK FOR ‘CARBON DEPOSITS’

In the clip, May sticks her hand in the exhaust, which causes thick black dust to fall out.

She refers to the dust as “carbon deposits”, which can lead to engine damage and reduced performance.

SEATBELTS CAN REVEAL SHOCKING SECRETS

Next, she advises viewers to check the bottom of one of the seatbelts.

On there, you can find the production date, so you can then check the vehicle’s name plate to see whether the dates match up.

In the video, May, who is from China, says: “If it doesn’t match, it means that this car may have had a major accident.”

Buying a car that has been involved in a serious collision, as it is likely that the car will have damage in other areas, which could lead to some hefty bills down the line.

DON’T IGNORE THE STEERING WHEEL

May said: “You find the steering wheel column under the steering wheel.

“See if there is rust on it.

“If there is, it means that this car may have been soaked in water.”

SLUDGE IS A NO-NO

Next, she moved to the front of the car after lifting up the bonnet.

Pointing to the oil cap, May suggests that her viewers unscrew this to check the back.

If there is a lot of sludge on the inside of the cap, she states that this could be an indication that the engine of the motor is not well-maintained.

THE BIG ISSUE

As a final tip, May suggests checking the gantry of the car to make sure that it is symmetrical.

The gantry refers to the framework of the car, and May inspects the front particularly.

“She said: “Are there any signs of knocking or welding?

“If there is, it means that this car has had a major accident.

“Don’t buy it.”

Social media users have been quick to comment on May’s video, thanking her for her expert insight, as reported by Luxury Auto News.
