BMW has unveiled the fourth generation of its popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the new BMW X3. Boasting greater sporting appeal, visual impact, and versatility, the new BMW X3 is designed to excel in everyday use, leisure activities, and longer trips.
Its revamped design language lends it an enhanced exterior presence and dynamic grace, while the interior benefits from high-quality materials, advanced digitalization, and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 9.

The new BMW X3 introduces a diverse lineup of powertrains, including efficient petrol and diesel engines, as well as the latest plug-in hybrid system. The BMW X3 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid model features an electric range of 81-90 kilometers (50-56 miles) and showcases a significant increase in power to 293 kW/398 hp, ensuring a dynamic performance. This model’s electric-only range and low CO2 emissions (under 50 g/km) reflect BMW’s commitment to sustainable luxury mobility.
The BMW X3 M50 xDrive, the range-topping model, is equipped with the most powerful six-cylinder engine yet fitted in an M Performance model. Delivering 293 kW/398 hp, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds, supported by advanced chassis technology for exceptional agility and handling precision.
Designed with modernity and enhanced product substance, the new BMW X3 continues the success story that began 20 years ago. With its debut in the premium midsize SAV segment, the BMW X3 has significantly contributed to the popularity of BMW’s X models, becoming the brand’s best-selling model in 2023.
Production of the new BMW X3 will take place at BMW Group Plants Spartanburg (USA) and Rosslyn (South Africa), with a focus on conserving resources and promoting circularity. The market launch will commence in Europe and the USA in the fourth quarter of 2024, with subsequent availability in other markets starting January 2025.
The new design language of the BMW X3 emphasizes its distinctive proportions. The vehicle is 34 millimeters longer and 29 millimeters wider than its predecessor, with a 25-millimeter reduction in height, contributing to a powerful and sporty look.
The large BMW kidney grille, L-shaped LED headlights, and optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting enhance its assured presence. The sporty silhouette, prominent wheel arches, and flush-mounted rear window highlight its dynamic design.
Inside, the new BMW X3 offers a sporty premium ambience with ample space and modern versatility. The BMW Curved Display, Interaction Bar, and new-look gear selector lever are central to its modern driver-focused design. The spacious interior can accommodate up to 1,700 liters of luggage, and optional features include luxurious materials, advanced seat designs, and a high-class knitted texture for the instrument panel.
The BMW X3 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine combined with an electric motor, providing up to 299 hp and an extended electric range. The model supports AC charging at 11 kW and offers smart charging options.
The new BMW X3 M50 xDrive, powered by a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo engine with 48V mild hybrid technology, delivers outstanding performance and driving dynamics. It comes standard with M Sport suspension, brakes, and an M Sport differential.
All variants of the new BMW X3 are equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology for enhanced efficiency. The BMW X3 20 xDrive and 20d xDrive models offer petrol and diesel options, respectively, with improved performance and fuel efficiency.
Standard features in the new BMW X3 include a three-zone automatic climate control, acoustic glazing, Comfort Access, and a range of driving assistance systems. The BMW Operating System 9 and iDrive with QuickSelect provide intuitive control, and the BMW Digital Premium package offers a variety of digital services and third-party apps.
