Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported a robust first quarter for 2024, with sales reaching 28,403 vehicles, marking a 35.7% increase over Q1 2023. This achievement represents the highest quarterly sales total since Q1 2020, driven by a return to near-pre-pandemic inventory levels at dealerships.
The Outlander continued its strong performance, achieving its second-best quarterly sales in the history of the nameplate with 13,846 units sold, up 41.1% year-over-year. This milestone includes record-breaking annual sales for both the Outlander and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid.
Sales across the MMNA product lineup showed significant growth. The Eclipse Cross saw an impressive increase of 120.3% year-over-year, with 3,463 units sold. The Mirage and Mirage G4 also performed well, with a collective year-over-year increase of 49.7%, demonstrating strong consumer demand for their economical and efficient designs.
In response to the ongoing situation at the Port of Baltimore, MMNA has redirected shipments to other eastern seaboard ports to minimize disruptions. MMNA stated: “The Port of Baltimore is a key inbound location for our vehicles from overseas. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will make adjustments as necessary to minimize inconvenience to our customers and dealer partners.”
