In the third quarter of 2024, Mercedes-Benz Group sold 594,600 cars and vans, marking a slight decline amid challenging market conditions.

Mercedes-Benz Cars saw a 1% increase in sales quarter-on-quarter to 503,600 units, thanks to improved product availability, but weaker demand in Asia, particularly in China, weighed on overall performance.

Sales in North America rose 29% year-on-year, driven by strong U.S. demand for GLC and Mercedes-AMG models. Meanwhile, Europe showed stable sales with a positive trend in the UK.

Top-end models like the Mercedes-AMG saw an 8% rise, and the G-Class increased by 2%, with the new electric version debuting in September. Core segment sales rose 4%, driven by models like the GLC and CLE, while the Entry segment remained flat.

Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 91,100 units, down 12% from the previous quarter. Sales were impacted by weakening demand in key markets, including Germany, the U.S., and China. However, strong performance from the Sprinter and eSprinter models helped offset some declines, with commercial van sales reaching 78,400 units.

Private van sales dropped significantly, mainly due to model transitions in China and Europe. Despite a drop in electric van sales, the brand maintained a stable 5% EV market share globally.

Overall, while Mercedes-Benz saw some positive momentum in certain markets, softer demand in Asia and challenges in the EV sector continue to present headwinds for the group.
