Ahead of the 2024 Laver Cup, Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer have revealed their latest Neon Legacy project: a revitalized sports area in Berlin, featuring a new tennis wall at the youth club Schlupfwinkel.
Designed with a vibrant floral motif by Berlin-based Chilean artist Rommy Gonzalez, the wall aims to inspire young players and raise awareness for tennis. This initiative follows a similar project in London, where a street art tennis court was renovated last year.
Neon Legacy is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer, focused on nurturing young tennis talent by making the sport more accessible. Through various projects, it combines social responsibility with sports development.

The tennis wall at Schlupfwinkel has been fully refurbished, adorned with neon-colored markings and artwork to create a visually striking space for youth training.
Federer, alongside Bettina Fetzer, Vice President of Communications and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG, celebrated the opening with local children.
Federer shared his enthusiasm, saying, “Training on a tennis wall was crucial to my development, and I’m thrilled to offer that experience to the next generation.” Fetzer emphasized the importance of creating such initiatives, noting the positive impact of the London project and the desire to continue promoting youth sports in urban spaces.
The unveiling comes just before the Laver Cup, set to take place in Berlin from September 20 to 22, 2024. As a global sponsor since the tournament’s inception in 2017, Mercedes-Benz is providing electric G-Class vehicles for Team Europe and Team World, as well as an all-electric shuttle fleet for officials and guests.
Federer, a Laver Cup co-founder and Mercedes-Benz ambassador, will also support the event.
