The IIHS awards the 2024 Mazda CX-90 Plug-in Hybrid its highest accolade, the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+, solidifying Mazda’s position with the most 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards as of June 2024.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2024 Mazda CX-90 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) its highest accolade, the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+. This recognition solidifies Mazda’s position as the brand with the most IIHS 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards as of June 2024.

Award Criteria and Achievements

To qualify for the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, vehicles must achieve good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the updated moderate overlap front test, which now emphasizes back seat safety. Additionally, vehicles need an acceptable or good rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation, and all trims must feature acceptable- or good-rated headlights.

In addition to the 2024 CX-90 PHEV, Mazda’s 2024 award winners include:

  • Mazda3 Sedan
  • Mazda3 Hatchback
  • CX-30
  • CX-50 (built after August 2024)
  • CX-90
