Lexus has reached a major milestone, selling 3,000,295 hybrid vehicles worldwide since the introduction of its first hybrid model nearly 20 years ago.
The breakthrough began with the RX 400h in 2005, a revolutionary luxury SUV that paired electric motors and a high-efficiency battery with a combustion engine, setting the foundation for Lexus’ status as a pioneer in premium electrification and CO2 reduction.

Now in its fifth generation, Lexus hybrid technology continues to stand out for its reliability, low fuel consumption, and extended electric-only driving capability.
The RX remains Lexus’ most popular hybrid, with 757,700 units sold, followed by the ES sedan at 634,399 units, and the NX compact SUV at 515,715 units.
Lexus’ success reflects its ability to offer hybrid options across every segment, winning over premium customers with refined performance and long-term dependability, consistently validated by studies like JD Power and Consumer Reports.
Electrified vehicles, including full hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric cars, now account for 52% of Lexus’ global sales. In 2024 alone, from January to September, Lexus sold 325,700 electrified vehicles, with the U.S. leading at 89,000 units. In Europe, electrified vehicles represent an impressive 90% of Lexus sales, underscoring the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Lexus’ hybrid technology continues to drive its success, offering luxury buyers efficient, reliable, and innovative electrified solutions that shape the future of premium driving.
