Eric Watson, VP of Sales Operations at Kia America, highlighted the benefits: “Offering NACS adapters opens up a vast number of charge points across North America, expanding Kia-accessible DC charge points by more than 83 percent.”

This will enhance long-distance travel for Kia’s EV owners, including those driving the 2024 Kia EV6 RWD Light Long Range, which boasts an EPA-estimated range of 310 miles on a full charge.

Three types of NACS adapters will be available, allowing Kia EVs to connect with various charging networks. These include adapters for NACS to CCS1, CCS1 to NACS, and J1772 to NACS, ensuring compatibility with DC fast chargers and Level 2 AC chargers.

To further streamline the charging process, Kia plans to integrate charging management and payment via the Kia Access app, allowing users to locate and pay for charging stations directly from their vehicle’s infotainment screen or smartphone.

This move underscores Kia’s commitment to expanding electrified mobility and providing its EV customers with increased charging convenience.
