The 2025 Kia Telluride and 2025 EV9 have both earned the TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
This marks the third consecutive year the Telluride has secured IIHS’s highest safety honor, while the all-electric EV9 receives an upgraded rating from last year.
“IIHS Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards reinforce our commitment to building vehicles that perform while providing peace of mind,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America. “As safety expectations rise, we remain dedicated to meeting these evolving standards.”

The 2025 Telluride continues to lead its class with advanced technology, premium comfort, and robust driver assistance systems, while the EV9 delivers a compelling combination of forward-thinking design, three-row spaciousness, upscale interior features, and fast-charging capabilities.
This year, IIHS has raised the bar, emphasizing rear-seat passenger protection. The updated moderate overlap front crash test now includes a second dummy behind the driver to assess back seat safety. Vehicles must earn at least an acceptable rating in this test to qualify for TSP and a good rating for TSP+.
To earn these awards, vehicles must also achieve good ratings in small overlap front and side tests, as well as acceptable or good scores in pedestrian crash prevention evaluations under both daytime and nighttime conditions. Additionally, all trims must feature acceptable- or good-rated headlights.
With these accolades, Kia continues to set high safety standards, ensuring both the Telluride and EV9 provide top-tier protection for all passengers.
