IRVINE, Calif., May 20, 2024 — The Kia EV9 three-row SUV has been honored with the title of “Electric Vehicle of Texas” at the 2024 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup.
This recognition adds to the growing list of accolades for Kia’s new flagship vehicle, which also won “Best in Class” in the Performance SUV, Mid-size CUV, and Electric Vehicle categories at the event.
Held annually, the TAWA Auto Roundup brought together over 20 automotive journalists from across the United States for a comprehensive two-day evaluation of the industry’s leading trucks, SUVs, and CUVs.
Participants tested the vehicles on predetermined street courses, assessing them on a variety of criteria that reflect everyday driving conditions.
“The Kia EV9’s trophy case continues to grow and being named the ‘Electric Vehicle of Texas’ from the 2024 TAWA Auto Roundup is further evidence that the first mainstream three-row EV SUV has wide appeal,” said Steven Center, CEO & EVP, Kia America.
“Texans love their SUVs and the TAWA members are a discerning group who are well aware of that fact, which makes EV9’s recognition all the more significant for the Kia brand.”
The TAWA members, known for their discerning tastes and in-depth knowledge of the automotive industry, praised the EV9 for its performance, design, and overall appeal. This recognition underscores Kia’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the electric vehicle market, particularly in the competitive SUV segment.
