On Wednesday, 23rd October 2024, JLR announced the launch of its latest Open Innovation Hub in India, aimed at collaborating with startups to shape the future of client experiences through next-generation products and services.
Following the success of hubs in the UK, US, Israel, and Brazil, the India Hub will focus on cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and sensor development.

The hub is established in partnership with Plug and Play, a corporate innovation platform and investor, bringing together industry leaders, government, and academia to develop solutions for JLR.
Areas of focus include optimizing batteries for electric powertrains, enhancing ADAS, and identifying prime locations for EV charging infrastructure.
Since the Open Innovation Programme began in April 2022, JLR has engaged with over 2,500 startups globally, leading to 33 formal collaborations.
Notable successes include working with UK-based Allye to reuse PHEV and BEV batteries for second-life energy storage and a partnership with Brazil’s Energy Source to launch the country’s first solar-powered EV charging station.
