LuxuryAutoNews reports that this classic beauty is expected to fetch between £425,000 and £475,000 at auction. Boasting a top speed exceeding 150mph, the car is powered by a 4.0-liter straight-six engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, and it comes with a detailed photographic record of its restoration.
The auction, conducted by Sotheby’s Sealed, will feature this DB5, which has an illustrious history of ownership. Celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Sellers, Mick Jagger, and Robert Plant have all been proud keepers of this model.
According to the auctioneers, this elegant California Sage DB5 was originally delivered to the Aston Martin dealer Brooklands of Bond Street on October 26, 1964. Historical documents reveal that it had a timing chain modification at the dealer’s service department on Wellington Road, London, in May 1965.
Additional documentation includes an email chain from the car’s history file, featuring correspondence between Graham Searle, founder of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, and dealer Auto-Kinetic.
This exchange details the car’s journey, noting its sale to a second owner in South Africa where it stayed until 1991 before making its way back to the UK. The current owner, who has had the car since 2007, has maintained it in excellent condition, reflecting the high level of care typical for such a 1960s dream machine.
The auction will take place in Taplow, Berkshire, and interested bidders can register to participate in the event, potentially driving away with a piece of cinematic and automotive history.
