Incredible Collection of 600 Classic Cars Discovered in Dusty Warehouse Set for Auction

An impressive collection of classic cars, including vintage Porsches, Chevrolets, and BMWs, has been discovered in an abandoned warehouse, delighting car enthusiasts worldwide.

The storage facility, the size of three tennis courts, also contained Cadillacs, Fords, and Mercedes dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, along with a treasure trove of spare parts.

The late Louis Coetzer, a well-known figure in the classic car industry, previously owned the warehouse. Coetzer was renowned for having one of the largest Mercedes-Benz collections.

Tragically, he passed away in 2020 following a car accident. After his death, his family auctioned off 240 vehicles from his collection, believing they had accounted for everything.

However, while preparing to sell some of his land, the family stumbled upon the forgotten warehouse filled with 600 vehicles, all covered in dust. Among the finds were a 1951 Mercedes pick-up, known as a “bakkie,” and a 300 SE model, which can fetch up to £20,000 secondhand online.

Coetzer’s fascination with cars began in primary school, where he collected toy vehicles and made paper versions. As he grew older, his interest turned to real cars, and he became a well-known figure in South Africa’s Eastern Cape motoring scene. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Louis” and was a popular guest at motoring events.
