The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent U.S. organization similar to Euro NCAP, recently recognized several Lexus models for their outstanding safety performance in 2024.
The IIHS tests cover areas like crashworthiness, lighting quality, and the effectiveness of active safety systems, with Lexus crossovers and SUVs receiving top marks.

The Lexus NX earned the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ award, the highest accolade given by IIHS, thanks to its exceptional ratings across all crash tests and its effective pedestrian collision prevention system, which works both day and night. The ease of installing child seats in the NX was also rated Good+.
Other Lexus models, including the UX, NX 450h+, RX, and RZ, were awarded the Top Safety Pick title, reflecting high marks in crash tests, side impact resistance, and front-light technology. These awards highlight the models’ superior safety in preventing collisions and protecting occupants.
Lexus continues to prioritize safety with its Lexus Safety System+, which is standard across all models. This suite of advanced technologies includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcyclist detection, active cruise control, lane keeping assist, adaptive high beam, and traffic sign recognition.
Additionally, features like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and the innovative Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system—which prevents doors from opening if a vehicle or cyclist is approaching—further enhance safety.
Lexus has also introduced cutting-edge technologies like driver monitoring cameras and the Emergency Stop System (EDSS), which can slow and stop the vehicle if it detects the driver is unresponsive. These features ensure that Lexus remains at the forefront of automotive safety innovation.
