Volkswagen has revealed the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE at the ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland, in collaboration with luxury sports fashion brand BOGNER.

Inspired by the iconic Golf Fire and Ice from the 1990s, this all-electric model modernizes its predecessor’s design with a striking 3-layer glass bead paint finish and a host of retro-inspired interior details.

Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen’s Head of Design, emphasized the emotional appeal of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE, noting how the team enjoyed reinterpreting the classic 90s aesthetic.

The car’s concept originated in Volkswagen’s Technical Development and, like the original Golf, was developed with BOGNER’s input. BOGNER Director Tom Becker explained that many of the brand’s signature materials were incorporated into the vehicle’s interior.

The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE boasts an exclusive Electric Violet pearl paint that changes from dark blue to violet or black depending on light, with 21-inch blue anodized rims and the original FIRE+ICE logo on the B-pillar and roof edge spoiler.

Inside, the car is split between bold Flaming Red and cool ice blue, with laser-engraved FIRE+ICE details and seats that feature design elements from BOGNER’s down jackets.

Under the hood, it offers a 240 kW (326 PS) electric motor, reaching 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and a 79 kWh battery that provides up to 601 km of range. The ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE pays tribute to the Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice, a model that became a cult favorite in the 90s after selling 16,700 units, far exceeding expectations.
