Fancy getting behind the wheel of a piece of Hollywood history? Now you can as the Porsche from the film Risky Business goes under the hammer.
The 1979 Porsche 928 Coupe was driven by Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise in his breakout film, released in 1983.
Now it is up for sale with an estimated auction price of £1.4 million ($1,800,000).
At the start of filming, 21-year-old Cruise was unable to drive a manual car and producer Jon Avnet reportedly taught him in this very car.
Powered by a mesmerising V-8 engine, it boasts a hair-raising 230bph and is one of three 928s used in the movie.
And it is the actual one seen in the final shot in which Cruise utters the famous line: “Porsche, there really is no substitute.”
The vehicle is for sale at the Quail Auction, hosted by Bonhams at Quail Lodge and Golf Club, Carmel, California, on 16 August, as reported by Luxury Auto News.
A spokesperson for Bonhams said: “This is a chance to own a piece of cinema history and arguably one of the most famous Porsches ever to grace the big screen.
“In addition to its on-film feature, it also figured prominently in Cruise’s own trajectory as an enthusiast and famous executor of his own stunts.
“At the start of filming, it is understood Tom Cruise did not know how to drive a stick, so producer Jon Avnet claims to have taught him the craft of rowing your own on this car.”
He added, further referencing the film. “This 928 is ready for a new owner.
“Whether you have to open a brothel in your house to pay for it is up to you.”
